The Flying Cloud Academy of Vintage Dance is a non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation of historic ballroom dance. Since its inception in 1981 in Cincinnati, Ohio, the Flying Cloud Academy has kept alive social dances with the music, costuming, and etiquette that were a part of American ballrooms from 1800 to 1950. This mission has been accomplished through weekly dance classes, elegant balls with live music which re-create period settings, workshops featuring local, national, and international instructors. In addition, the Academy maintains a performance ensemble with a broad repertoire of historic ballroom dances.
